History

On April 16, 2002, four tornadoes damaged the homes of many low-income families in East Fort Worth, Texas. 53 restaurants donated food as The HOPE Center became the Command Center to address the immediate and urgent needs of the community.

…the National Weather Service in Fort Worth conducted a survey of the damage caused by the tornadoes in Tarrant County.

A total of four separate tornado tracks were found as the storm tracked from near Everman to east Fort Worth.

(The HOPE Center lies right in the path of these tornadoes between #3 and #4.)

Today, The HOPE Center continues to serve the immediate and urgent needs of East Fort Worth residents on a daily basis.
