What a wonderful Thanksgiving we had with our low-income families at The HOPE Center! But a week before Thanksgiving we did not have a turkey in the house. We needed a miracle!
It was time to hand out the tickets for our families to come and pick up their turkeys and holiday food but there wasn’t food available to give out I didn’t know what to do. I was tempted to tell them that we weren’t going to be able to provide them with holiday foods this year. But in my heart I heard the Lord said, “Where is your faith? I’m the one that broke the bread and fish and fed 5000. I will feed your families, just asked me and trust me to do it.”
So the week before the food give-a-way, I shared with our families (approximately 700) and told them that we didn’t have turkeys at that moment but we were going to be giving them tickets in FAITH that when the time came for them to pick up their food, the food we are going to pray and ask the Lord to provide the food for them. So we all prayed and asked the Lord to do a miracle and make provision for Thanksgiving Foods. The Lord had promised that if we would ask Him, he would provide everything we needed. So all the people prayed with me and we ASKED the Lord to give the food that was needed.
After that we gave out the Thanksgiving food tickets to over 700 families. We started asking, seeking and knocking and it was amazing how the Lord began to speak to the hearts of people to get involved. Money began to come in from the website and others mailed in their donations. Food donors began to give us food and grocery stores reduced the price of their turkeys so that we could buy them. It was amazing how the food came in.
When the families came to redeem their Thanksgiving Food tickets, they found that there was more than enough! The families knew it was a gift from God because they had been there when we prayed and asked God to perform a miracle in their behalf. We all witnessed the miracle and truly THANKED God for his love and concern for the poor.
Channel 11 news (CBN) heard about what was happening at The HOPE Center and covered the story. They even went home with one of the families and witnessed her giving her extra food to her neighbor. Below is the news clip…it was amazing.
Thank you So much for All of you that were involved in our Thanksgiving “Adopt a family” program. The Lord used you to show our families that God loves them and He answered their prayers.
